During Week of the Young Child, our Burchfield Pre-K classroom was filled with creativity, collaboration, and joyful learning experiences!

We kicked off the week with Music Monday, where students designed their own musical instruments using paper plates and dried beans. After decorating their creations, children participated in a lively freeze dance, building listening skills, rhythm, and self-control while having fun moving to music.

On Tasty Tuesday, students explored independence and decision-making as they created their own trail mix. Using scoops and a variety of ingredients, children practiced fine motor skills while engaging in conversations about their choices and preferences.

Work Together Wednesday brought lots of laughter and teamwork with our parachute play. Students worked cooperatively to lift, wave, and move the parachute, practicing turn-taking, following directions, and group coordination through interactive games.

We expressed our creativity on Artsy Thursday by making pet-themed collages. Using a variety of materials, students designed unique pet creations and shared descriptions of their artwork, encouraging imagination and language development.

Finally, we celebrated Family Friday by drawing pictures of our families and participating in a special share time. Each child’s work was compiled into a class book, highlighting the uniqueness of every family and strengthening our classroom community.

Throughout the week, we were also fortunate to welcome special guest readers into our classroom, including Shaler Area librarian Rebekah Alessandria and State Representative Lindsay Powell. Their visits made our celebration even more meaningful and helped foster a love of reading among our students.

It was a wonderful week full of hands-on learning, creativity, and meaningful connections!
