Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc.
Awarded $193,000 to Support Fayette County Veterans
The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. (PIC) will assist 36 Fayette County Veterans in overcoming barriers to employment by supplementing existing programs, assisting veterans in transitioning to civilian employment and giving them the opportunity to earn well above the local median income for Fayette County.
Governor Wolf said in a recent announcement, “Every one of Pennsylvania’s veterans made significant sacrifices in the service to our nation and because of that, we owe them every opportunity we can provide to ease their transition to a civilian career. This funding will enable community organizations to assist our veterans in finding meaningful and family-sustaining jobs.”
This funding is provided by the PA Department of Labor and Industry using Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Industry Partnership and Reemployment funds.

Awarded $150,000 for AgVets Project
The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. (PIC) was recently awarded $150,000 from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to give 20 Fayette County Veterans the opportunity to work with local farms to learn the farming trade and transform what they have learned into credentials in the agribusiness of Butchering, Heavy Equipment Operation or obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License.
This project in partnership with Fayette County Farms, Douglas Education Center, the Fayette County Veteran Bureau and Penn State Extension and others will help to encourage an agricultural environment as well as helping Veterans with barriers they may face. Veteran can earn up to $960.00 for the 80 hours of work on the farm that will lead into a training in one of the aforementioned fields.
