Grow Parent Program
Grow Parent Program
The Private Industry Council (PIC) is offering the Grow parenting program, a free hybrid evidence-informed parent-education program designed to support parents and caregivers of children ages 5–10 in Westmoreland County. Through this program, participants will learn practical strategies to strengthen relationships with their children, encourage healthy child development, manage stress, and respond to challenging behaviors in positive, developmentally appropriate ways. The program also helps families promote healthy lifestyle choices and build supportive connections with other parents and caregivers.
The six-week Grow program combines approximately 4.5 hours of self-guided lessons paired with weekly in-person or virtual group meetings led by a facilitator, giving participants flexibility while also creating opportunities to share experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from others in a supportive environment. Incentives will be offered to encourage successful program completion.
Over an 18-month period, PIC will serve 60 parents and caregivers. Grow is a program within the Thrive Initiative, a portfolio of resources and services designed to support and empower parents of children from birth through age 18. The Thrive Initiative was developed through a partnership between the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State and the Department of Defense. Parent-education programs play an important role in promoting healthy child development and strengthening family well-being.
