Pictured above to receive the devices, from left to right are Sue Gallagher (Child, Health, and Safety Manager, Hockenberry Family, Mary Catherine Piper (Child Development Home-based Manager), and Yvonne Price (Child, Health, and Safety Supervisor).

On February 3, 2025, almost 6 months after the Hockenberry family tragically lost their son to a choking accident, Owen’s Mission donated 24 LifeVac devices to Head Start/Early Head Start of Fayette County.

These 24 devices will be distributed to each of the buildings and 23 classrooms throughout Fayette County.

The family, through Owen’s Mission, is spreading awareness about choking in hopes to prevent other families from having to go through the devastation they have.

LifeVac is a portable suction rescue device developed for clearing an airway obstruction of a choking victim.

HS/EHS of Fayette Co. cannot thank the Hockenberry family enough for thinking of our program by providing lifesaving resources to us in their time of loss.
