On Apil 27th, 2024, PIC’s Drone Education students had the opportunity to attend a fieldtrip to Derry Area School District’s Agriculture and Horticulture Complex to expand their knowledge on how Drones are used in the agriculture field. Carly Ripple, a Derry Agriculture Instructor, explained the importance of soil testing and observational skills with the drones.

Students also had the opportunity to head to Frye Farm, where they were able to use their drones in a hands-on activity of view and photographing the farm. During this they looked for areas of concern that the farmers would need to be made aware of.

We look forward to more opportunities like this in the future. If your student is interested in the Drone Education Program for the 2024-2025 school year, please contact our Youth Programs Supervisor, Samantha Nicholson at: slnicholson@privateindustrycouncil.com or (724)-836-2600
