To end our week of learning the letter ‘L,’ our room was transformed into We’re Going On a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger.

There was a mountain to climb, a forest to walk through, a waterfall to go around, and a lake to row across.  At each stop, there were leaves to gather.

After rowing across the lake, there was a surprise – a skunk!  We had to row across the lake, go around the waterfall, walk through the forest, climb the mountain until we were back home.

As we visited each part, the children helped with telling the story by echoing what Miss Jess said.  The children even did it in song form.

The children enjoyed participating in the story so much, they asked to do it again!

While a group was “Going on a leaf hunt,” there were two other small groups.

One group completed a book where they had to count and color the leaves.  The other group made leaf rubbings on the letter ‘L’ with Miss Lindsay.

It was a wonderful day!
