On March 13, 2025, HS/EHS of Fayette County hosted our annual Registration Day event at the HS/EHS centers in Fayette County. The event was open to pregnant women and families with children ages birth – 5 that were interested in learning more about the Head Start/Early Head Start and gave them the option to apply for services on the spot. Families enjoyed light refreshments, while the children engaged in different activities and listening to stories. Children also stayed engaged by using our smartboard, and playing Basketball Letter Match., which was very enjoyable for all. The children birth – 3 years old played in our sensory bins as well.

Hosted in every center throughout Fayette County, we had 69 attendees overall. Families had the opportunity to come to one of our centers, complete an application on site, meet the staff, and to tour classrooms and buses. It also allowed the families to ask questions and gain knowledge of our program. The parents observed their children interacting with others in a classroom setting and learn more about the importance of socialization is to children at this age. By the time the day ended, and families were scheduled to leave, the children were asking to stay.

Registration Day brought in 30 applications completed at the centers. The Mt. Vernon site had 10 attendees, and 4 applications completed.
