After graduating from Duquesne University in May of 2024, I began to question, what happens next? After taking some time to job search, I had come across the program Pre-K Counts, which at the time, I was unfamiliar with. Their mission of providing quality education at no cost to families was very intriguing to me. I decided to apply to be a classroom supervisor and could not be happier with my decision.

I have been able to connect with amazing co-workers and fellow teachers that have made my experience positive. Being a first-year teacher, I was unsure of what to expect, but my manager, Stephanie Zebro, and coordinator, Sheri Yokiel, have been truly amazing at offering me guidance and assistance when needed. I have been lucky enough to build relationships with my students, where I can offer a fun and safe learning environment.

As I go into my 2nd year teaching for Pre-K Counts, I find myself to be grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me, as well as the connections I have made with so many new people. I am excited for the new school year, and thankful I have the chance to work with such caring families. I hope to continue my teaching journey with Pre-K Counts at Wharton Elementary in the following years, helping more students to create a path towards success.
