From its network of one-stop shops throughout Pennsylvania, PA CareerLink® has transformed how jobseekers find family-sustaining jobs and how businesses and organizations locate new employees and help train their staff.

In Westmoreland and Fayette counties, the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette operates and manages the CareerLink® offices in Lemont Furnace (Fayette), New Kensington (Alle-Kiski) and Youngwood (Westmoreland). Our professional and dedicated staff provides a variety of employment-related services, including:

Individual Training Account

Eligible individuals who are underemployed or unemployed can receive vital training for jobs in growing industries. Individual Training Account (ITA) funding can be used for programs at numerous training providers in western Pennsylvania, resulting in a certificate or credential that makes the person more attractive to future employers.

On-the-Job Training

Often, new employees need to learn a job-specific skill in order to succeed and grow within a new company. PA CareerLink® partners with employers on grant-funded training that allows employees to receive training while they are on the job and earning a paycheck. On-the-Job Training (OJT) covers the first several months of a new employee’s tenure, resulting in valuable cost savings for the company and training for the individual. Additional OJT funding opportunities exist for jobseekers with barriers to employment.

Incumbent Worker Training

In addition to providing grant funding for new employees, PA CareerLink® also works with organizations on training programs for eligible existing employees. The grant-funded Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program must enable individuals to improve their skill set, increase their overall compensation and be eligible for promotions, resulting in possible opportunities for additional entry-level employees within the company.

For more information about these and other programs available through your local PA CareerLink® location.
