Do you live in Westmoreland or Fayette County and have someone in your household that is 16-24 years old who needs a job? Then the Experience Works! Program though the Private Industry Council is right for you!

Experience Works! is a state funded program through the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board which provides a work experience opportunity for in school and out of school youth within Westmoreland and Fayette counties. Youth have the opportunity to receive a paid work experience at partnering non-profit and for-profit businesses and organizations throughout the two counties. In addition, the Private Industry Council will be providing a six week long workshop series on Fridays for program participants. The workshops will be centered on skills that are needed to be successful in the workplace which include resume building, financial literacy, and other vital career pathway information. The workshops will take place at four different Private Industry Council locations: Greensburg Private Industry Council, Lemont Furnace Fayette County PA CareerLink®, Monessen Private Industry Council and the Alle Kiski PA CareerLink®.

The Private Industry Council will serve 120 youth ages 16-24 throughout Westmoreland and Fayette counties. For the work experience, youth have the opportunity to work for up to 300 total hours while making $9/hour (that is $1.75 more than the state minimum wage!). Private Industry Council youth program staff will make periodic monitoring visits to worksites, conduct interviews with program participants and provide feedback based on performance and overall morale.

The Experience Works! program provides youth with a beneficial and meaningful work experience while giving them an opportunity for growth and a chance to develop strong relationships with well-known professionals and organizations. Some participants are even hired by the organization or business they completed their work experience at. The Private Industry Council is currently excepting youth applications that can be found at any Private Industry Council location or you can download the application here. Experience Works! is a very popular program and slots fill up quickly, so turn in the application as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
