cTORQ is a simple-to-use online tool that calculates a TORQ score, a single number that indicates how easy it may be for a worker to transfer from one occupation to another, based on his or her personal knowledge, skills, and abilities. That TORQ score – in combination with local data on earnings, employment levels, projected growth rates, current job postings, and more – pulls together all the key ingredients to help individuals determine their best employment options.
Utilizing assessment data with unemployed and underemployed individuals aids in establishing career goals and determining individuals’ chances of career success. Specifically, the results of the cTORQ assessment system can be used in the development of a training/career plan which may include on-the-job training, continuing education, and/or training to earn job-specific credentials in order to overcome knowledge, skills, and abilities gaps.
Access to cTORQ has been made possible through an H1B U.S. Department of Labor grant received by the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board. The four-year “Re-Engineering Advanced Manufacturing Careers” project is being managed by New Century Careers with the assessment part of the project being conducted by the Private Industry Council. The cTORQ license for this project will allow workforce development staff in Westmoreland and Fayette counties to utilize cTORQ on an unlimited basis for client counseling.
